Cinema 6 Update

Wed, Nov 25th 2009

Cinema 6 is open for subscriptions.

The Cinema EIS companies combine 2 tax benefits: normal EIS relief and the British Film Tax Credit, limiting downside risk whilst allowing for significant commercial success. A film only needs to generate sales of 60% of the budget cost for an investor to be in profit.

3 films are now scheduled for UK cinema release in Q1 2010: Broken Lines, Wild Target and Heartless (Click on the link for the Sun article Jim is anything but Heartless ).

In addition, the film Dread is scheduled for a US cinema release on Jan 2010 as is Broken Lines.

So far 5 out of the first 6 films commissioned by the Cinema EIS companies will have had UK cinema releases. The first film was Outpost which is already in profit for Cinema investors. The exception is Book of Blood (Clive Barker) which went straight to DVD and was released on Blu-Ray in both the USA and UK in Sept/Oct 2009 where it reached the top 10 in HMV stores.
